Caviar specifically helped with the build out of The Nabis Marketplace, a highly interactive and dynamic platform that enables Retailers to instantly choose from a diverse spectrum of top-tier brands and products, ranging from concentrates, edibles, vapes, beverages, pre-rolls, topicals, to quality flowers and capsules.
Problem
Retailers in the Marijuana industry have a tremendous burden to bear. They not only struggle to seek out razor-thin margins in the face of steep and constantly changing regulations, but must adapt to the incredible painpoints that accompany working with the METRC system, protect against theft, noncompliant and unprofessional staff, unwelcome local governments, and razor-thin margins in an industry where profits still flow to the illicit market.
Retailers struggle to stay organized and maintain fiscal stability in such a volatile industry. On the other end of the equation, there are brands who not only looking for distribution from Nabis, but need visibility and the opportunity to showcase their products on a bigger stage in more retailers.
Solution
Converting the Nabis delivery confirmation website to a more robust Retailer Portal–where retailers will not only be able to communicate their delivery window preferences and confirm and reject orders–will enable them to see critical, helpful details about their recent and upcoming orders, reduce miscommunications, improve delivery efficiency, and pave the way for the arrival of the next-generation marketplace functionality when Retailers can order from Brands themselves.
Designing a beautiful cannabis marketplace
We worked closely with the founders and managers at Nabis to deliver a functional yet sophisticated retailer marketplace. From the initial exploratory phase to the final execution, we took extra care to prioritize the functional usability of the platform while weaving in aesthetic elements that highlighted Nabis’s brand identity. We knew big brands and retailers from all around would be interacting with the marketplace interface and we wanted every component and placement of the component to feel seamless and familiar.
We had to design it in a way so that retailers using the marketplace could easily schedule their preferred delivery day and track their orders in real time. This involved building in minimal date selectors and crafting time and delivery inputs and custom fields to collect critical delivery information from retailers.
A component library built for flexibility
A retail marketplace requires a large component library to function correctly. With Nabis, we wanted to make sure they had all the tools they needed at their disposal. We created a widely flexible component library that allows for all kinds of buttons, dropdowns, and more.
With a wide variety of components such as a chat feature, tags, buttons, drowdowns, input fields and more, Nabis was able to create a marketplace that covers all of their bases. These components not only look good and fit into Nabis’ design system, but they also make the user experience much more flush and enjoyable.
For Nabis, we set about creating a simple experience for consumers. A streamlined and stress-free interface that helped people get what they needed quickly and securely. With Nabis as the leading cannabis distribution platform with a best-in-class wholesale marketplace, we knew they needed branding that reflected exactly that.
