Copy.ai is a startup building AI-powered copywriting tools for business customers.
Memphis, Tennessee, United States
Copy.ai is an AI powered copywriter, helping small businesses grow with AI-powered copywriting. Founded in 2020 Copy.ai brought us in to help with branding and product design from the very start of the company when Co-founders Paul Paul Yacoubian and Chris Lu first came up with the idea.
With no previous design or product to go off of we faced a few challenges with trying to make Copy.ai standout in a space that was becoming bigger and bigger each and every day. We we’re not sure how to make a copy writing Ai powered machine feel inviting, friendly yet also usable all at once. Here at Caviar we had to come up with a product and brand that could both serve the needs of everyone in the startup space while also delivering a simple and easy to use business to consumer product.
We came up with a new logo, brand identity, web app and marketing website to give Copy.ai everything they might need to move forward with creating a fun and simple to use Ai powered product. We also understood that coming up with design items listed above would not be enough here, so we created a complex component style guide equipped with different visual identity guidelines such as brand colors, button states, typography guidelines and much more which you can view below.
After initial color and logo exploration, we came up with a light teal to chartreuse gradient which became part of Copy.ai’s visual identity. We enjoyed incorporating that new gradient into the market and product side of Copy.ai and that graident now represents almost all of Copy.ai’s branding as a unit.
When deciding on typography, imagery and other brand assets we wanted to give users a modern fresh vibe while still incorporating a lot of free space for creativity and room to explore.
The new visual identity is made by a system of easy-to-use guidelines that we developed for the Copy.ai team, empowering them to use the brand in their communications to its full effect, without the daily support of an agency.
Building out Copy.ai’s brand required a careful blend of creativity and user experience. From the Ui components to the typography to the imagery and iconography we wanted to give a feeling of a new company, not a fast testing proof of concept startup.
We wanted the elements to complement the professional side of the brand while also allowing for the artificial intelligence side to feel present.
Placement on the website side was a key part of designing their homepage, we wanted new users to come to the website and instantly try and feel the magic of Copy.ai.
We knew after a new user tried the magic of Copy.ai that then backing that magic with real testimonials and a logo pond from real companies would only make a new user want to sign up even faster.
We also knew based off how new the company was that copy writing generation would be what a new user would most likely label them as when discovering them for the first time. When in reality they do so much more, so we created a fun and simple way to address the other amazing tools such as eCommerce Copy, Sales Copy, Social Media Content and more.
